How credits are spent
Each model, length, and resolution spends a different amount. Runway lists Gen-4.5 at 12 credits per second of video.
- Max is $95/month, or $76/month billed annually, with 9,500 credits. Up to one month of unused Max credits can roll over.
- Extra credits can be bought on paid plans, with a 1,000-credit minimum. Purchased credits do not expire.

What is Runway?
Runway is a web app for generating video, images, and audio. You can start from text, from a still, or from a clip. Credits pay for each generation. Around the generator you can extend or upscale a result, then export it.
Can I start without paying?
The free plan includes a one-time deposit of 125 credits that does not expire. That is enough to generate a few shots and decide whether a paid allotment belongs in your week. You cannot buy extra credits on the free plan.
Can I animate a picture I already have?
Yes. An image can be an input, not only a text prompt. Generate motion from that still, then extend or edit the clip until it fits the rest of the piece.
What do the credits buy?

Do unused credits roll over?
